Mi Rebozo

Transparent Watercolor 20" x 14"

This is the latest in a series of paintings of my mom Rosy. I didn't intend to do a series of her but she is such a fascinating person and I love hearing her stories that I just keep getting inspired to do more. I'm grateful that she puts up with me and the photo shoots and I'm sure she doesn't think she's anything special but she is.

This painting also has me convinced that I will never try pointillism! I didn't realize how many dots of color I'd be making to create the shawl. I'm glad I trudged through the household full of season's colds and ear infections and holiday madness to get this one done cause it's now my latest favorite.

Blessed Holidays to everyone!

For some reason the image is not showing. I am noticing this frequently of late. Don't know why but your image of Grandma's Kitchen is beautiful. Congrats

What a treat to visit your site. I enjoyed every painting, and especially the life felt in this one. Excellent rendition of those yellow squash blossoms, too, and, yes, I agree, yellow is usually torture to paint.

This painting of your mother is breathtakingly wonderful. You are an amazing artist to have achieved such realism, essence, and such soul. The painting really moved me. Did you paint this from a photograph of her?
Kudos!!
