Watiq' Oniq' On

Watiq' Oniq' On 17" x 13" watercolor

Did I mention the love/hate aspect of painting hair?  I love the way it turns out in the end and though I don't hate painting it, it is time consuming to layer colors upon colors without making it look overworked.  I really like the perspective of portraits when they are turning away from you, tricky not to make it flat or look like they're in full profile.

Tiny Dancer

"Tiny Dancer"  10" x 8" watercolor

I love watching the smaller kids learn the dances at powwows.  So cute and fun to watch them walk around and try out the steps that more accomplished dancers are showing them.

This Little Piggy Went to Market 4

"This Little Piggy Went to Market 4"  17"x13" Watercolor

I rarely paint fruit so I thought it would be a good time to try it again, I love the color of these pears and the taste even more so!

My favorite molcajete is always fun to use and painting the texture is a good challenge for brush techniques.  I've said it before and will say it again, I have no tricks up my sleeve, just good ole' fashioned straight forward painting.

Ma 'Anax'+' Alaptipu

"Ma 'Anax'+' Alaptipu" 18"x 24" watercolor
Sometimes I can't really express the feelings I have working on a painting and surely this is one of them.  Let me just say how honored I am to be able to be able to paint this Chumash brother.

Slop it on and make it work! . . . that's my go-to motto!

It's been a busy summer so far what with kids out of school and a summer track and field club (my son not me!) But I've been managing working on some new paintings.  This is what I'm currently working on.  Can't wait to finish!

Here's the slop in my palette.

Here's the make it work part!
